How We Got Our Start

Byron Union Oil Company was formed into a corporation in 1917 but was operating prior to that date. A group of prominent men in Idaho Falls, Idaho came to Cody Wyoming with an interest in geology and a determination to find oil. They drilled in the Byron structure and hit oil around 1907. Today the company is owned largely by the descendants of these gentlemen and ladies and continues to pump oil in the Cody, Wyoming field. The tract is leased to Merritt Oil Company, who operates the field. Watch the news section of this website for updates.
